The southern tip of Chile and Argentina has been the target of many expeditions in the program because that area a long symbolized the limits of the earth. But the interest and mystery that generates the territory due also to the stories of navigation in the sixteenth century, dominated the Spanish sailors who dared to traverse the maze of fjords and channels of southern Chile in search of a step toward the Pacific Ocean. These sailors did much more than prudence dictates. So John Ladrillero and Ojea Courts conducted an adventure that, for very different reasons, almost 300 years remained anonymous. But, like all great feats, it was useless as their journey brought to the geography and history key observations.
